Job Title: Project Engineer

Location: Sacramento, CA

Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $60,000 - $120,000 annually

Actual compensation will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and location.


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Project Engineer to join our team. This role works closely with a dedicated Project Manager and reports to the Sales Manager, supporting the technical coordination of assigned projects. You'll play a key role in estimating, scheduling, and design within our dynamic design-build construction process, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and BIM methodologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in writing proposals, subcontracts, change orders, and other project documentation
  • Manage and contribute to RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, and shop drawings
  • Participate in internal and external meetings (kickoff, BIM, scheduling, etc.)
  • Perform estimating tasks including takeoffs, vendor quotes, and bid compilation
  • Support onsite job progress and quality control, solving installation challenges
  • Interpret technical plans and specifications
  • Assist with purchasing, procurement tracking, and vendor coordination
  • Contribute to financial tracking including labor forecasting and billing
  • Support job closeout efforts (O&Ms, commissioning, as-builts, warranties)
  • Collaborate with project teams to monitor timelines and budgets
  • Escalate issues to the Project Manager and help drive resolution
  • Provide technical support for planning, design, and value engineering
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers
  • Coordinate with internal departments (Construction, Engineering, Accounting, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or upper management

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • Career progression based on performance and leadership potential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Preferred experience with JDE, IFS, BidTracer, FastEst, Bluebeam, Box, Smartsheet

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • Work hours typically between 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs

Travel Requirements

  • Travel to regional branch offices and job sites as needed
  • Varying work in varying locations based on project assignments
